About 15 million years ago there was a meteorite shower in the Moldau Valley of Czechoslovakia, which is now the Czech Republic. The result of this shower is Moldavite, a rare silica gem of a bottle-green, translucent hue. It fell in an area covering some 500 square kilometers of the Moldau River Valley in the Czech Republic.
